Former captain of the India team and Congress MP was issued a non-bailable arrest warrant in a cheque bounce case after he failed to appear before the court despite repeated summons.

The warrant was issued by Metropolitan Magistrate Vikrant Vaid for March 1. The Magistrate rejected the plea that Azhar was busy with election related work in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.

Azhar wanted to sell his Mumbai property to Solanki for a price of Rs 4.5 crore for which Azhar was paid Rs 1.5 crore in advance. Later Azhar decided not to sell the house and paid back the advance in the form of cheque in 2008 which was not honoured by the bank. Later in 2009 another cheque was given to Solanki which also bounced. Finally in 2010 Azhar issued another cheque for Rs 1.5 crore that too was sent back after which the case was filed.
