The state is reeling under power crisis and the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has decided to increase the load shedding in the state to meet the growing power demands. The city will experience an increase of one hour power cut and in the rest of the state by two hours. It was decided that quantum power cut for high tension industrial units will be increased from 20 percent to 40 percent.

Power holiday scheme will be reintroduced in the state announced TANGEDCO.
