Crystal embedded in Rahman's crown

Double Oscar winner A.R. Rahman was on Wednesday honoured with the Crystal Award of the World Economic Forum (WEF) at the opening ceremony of its annual meet in Davos, Switzerland being attended by 2,500 global leaders from the fields of business, government, art, culture and religion. A R Rahman was recognised for his music in Slumdog Millionaire and Bombay Dreams and his association and work in welfare of children.

Internationally renowned music composer A R Rahman, who has several national and international awards, including the Grammy’s to his credit received the award which is given annually by the WEF to outstanding artists who use their talent not only for their own profession but also for social and charitable work. A strong 130-member delegation from India is attending the five-day annual WEF meet. The award function was attended by several heads of governments, including Russian President , top CEOs, religious leaders and academicians.
