  School boy rescued, returns safe

Lokeshwaran, a class VII boy who was kidnapped on Wednesday on his way to school was rescued on Thursday. The kidnappers scared of dire consequences put the boy in a bus bound to Chennai from Puducherry. Twelve police teams were put in action to rescue the boy. Investigations revealed that Lokeshwaran’s uncle Niranjan Kumar was involved in some financial dealings and when he was unable to pay back the money they kidnapped his nephew.

 

The boy was taken to Kumbakkonam after being picked up near his school. Though, the kidnappers did not harm him. In the evening fearing police action the culprits put the boy in a Chennai bus. Police also informed that two kidnappers also traveled with the boy. The bus was intercepted at Uthandi on Wednesday and the boy was rescued. Two men on board Balasubramanium and Peter were arrested. Another Anbu was arrested in Kumbakkonam on Thursday. The police are on the look out for three others.
