Government on Monday ordered a CBI probe into the allegation made by Army Chief Gen V K Singh that he was offered a sum of Rs. 14 crores as  bribe by a lobbyist. Defence Minister A K Anthony ordered a CBI inquiry on the issue, terming it as “highly serious”.  It is alleged that the offer was made to V K Singh, six months after he took up the position of Army Chief Gen. The bribe was offered to him in 2010 by a retired defence officer to clear a sub-standard consignment of trucks. The General also said that the retired officer asked him, “Everyone takes it. What is your problem?,” when he refused to take the kick-back.
