Chriu’s manifesto full of promises

The actor-turned politician Chiranjeevi has in his election manifesto promised to dig into the corruption charges against the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He also assured a subsidized grocery at Rs 100 a month for the deprived. Some of the other goodies are cooking gas cylinder for Rs 100 and distribution of land for the poor. The manifesto holds land reforms and two to five acres of land for the landless. Transfer of powers and finance to village level bodies was also promised by the mega star. He

vowed to continue the free electricity for farmers and had increased the duration to 10 hours instead of the current 7 hours. He also assured pension scheme for farmers.

Some popular schemes that could attract women would be the Rs 100,000 deposit for every new born girl child and the money will be paid after she turns 18 years, free education for women from KG to PG. Interest free loans for self help groups (SHG) and 50 percent reservation in appointment of teachers. Total prohibition in phases.

Unemployment allowance of Rs 1000 will be paid to all unemployed youth and Rs 1500 pension per month for physically challenged.

On the contrary, the TDP has in its manifesto color television and cash transfer scheme for the poor.
