Ragging in Coimbatore College - Student to lose eye sight

A student from the PSG College of Arts and Science Coimbatore is at the verge of losing his eyesight after being hit by his seniors with a steel chair and a frying pan on March 7. Akhil Dev, a first year student of Business Management and Information Systems was beaten up by his seniors for not offering them money.

Speaking to a new channel, Dev stated that, “On March 7, at 11 pm, they came to my room and locked my friends outside. They told me to remove my shirt,

which I did. Then they asked me to lick their shoes and when I bent down they started hitting me on my back.”

According to Dev’s doctor there are nine holes in the retina and the victim may lose his eye sight in few years time.

Five students who were responsible for the attack were suspended by the anti-ragging cell, after a complaint was filed by Dev’s parents. Dev’s father, Sunil Parameswaran, is a noted film story writer in Kerala.
