The CPI state secretary and contestant from North Chennai constituency for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls D Pandian managed to clear his nomination papers early this week. Now there is trouble brewing up with the DMK chief M Karunanidhi threatening the election commission to move the court if D Pandian is not disqualified. The TN Chief Minister claims that the CPI leader has withheld information about his assets in his nomination papers.

Speaking to the media persons yesterday, M Karunanidhi stated that he has evidence to prove that there are irregularities in the nomination papers filed by D Pandian. The legal advisor for DMK N Jyothi stated that the CPI leader had purchased 4.67 acres of land worth Rs.1,79,529 last year and has also signed in the land purchase documents. The DMK has pressed for legal action if the Chief Electoral Officer does not take any steps in this regard.

Meanwhile, D Pandian has denied these charges saying that he has nothing to hide.
