After almost two years of neglect, the Corporation of Chennai has finally decided to lay road for the residents of Raja Annamalaipuram (Chennai). Angry residents rushed to the spot to halt the work as they felt that it is not appropriate with elections so close. Some felt it is all done to garner votes.

In fact 25 residents met the joint engineer asking him to stop work, but since the authorities did not heed, women and children forced the workers to leave. A

Meanwhile, the Chief Electoral Officer stated that clearance should be sought by the corporation in such cases from the election commission before relaying roads.
