In response to the criticism heralded by Gavaskar on the idea of John Buchanan (coach of Kolkata Knight Rider’s) of having multiple captaincies, the King Khan leaped to rescue his team coach asking Gavaskar not to interfere in his team’s affairs.

Responding to a news channel, he stated, “I respect Mr. Gavaskar - his knowledge about cricket is a billion times better than me, but this is an era where Mr. Gavaskar has not indulged in,nevertheless his

knowledge about the game does allow him to make comments.”

He also went to the extent of saying, “This is a new format that's being tried out. Please give it some breathing space. I am the owner of the team, I bought it. If he wants to implement something, then let him buy a team.”

The idea of having three or four captains in a single T20 game was also not favored by the KKR team’s customary captain, Sourav Ganguly. Yet others feel that there is nothing wrong in experimenting this new concept.
