As days pass by, the LTTE are being confined to a narrow strip of land. The Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has warned the LTTE to face rout if they do not surrender soon. The Sri Lankan army has killed 480 tigers in the last four days. The rebels are now moving to the no-fire zone where nearly 70,000 civilians are ensnared inside.

The army is moving forward to rescue the innocent held hostage by the LTTE, claims the Lankan

government. It is believed that the LTTE top man Prabhakaran and the second in line Pottu Amman along with other seniors are hiding in the safety zone which comprises of a small area of 20 sq kms.

Issuing a warning Rajapaksa stated, “The only way out for the rebels to save their lives, is to lay down arms and surrender which will save the lives of the trapped civilians too.”

Predictions say that the fate of the LTTE will be known in the next few days.
