Oracle to acquire Sun
Apr 21, 2009 01:55 PM

Oracle Corporation, the US-based software company, intends to acquire Sun Microsystems. The deal is estimated to cost Oracle $7.4 million. It is expected to be a cash transaction and Oracle will purchase the shares at $9.50 each.

A statement from the Oracle Corporation President Safra Catz says, “We expect this acquisition to be accretive to Oracle's earnings by at least 15 cents on a non-GAAP (non-generally accepted accounting

Oracle
practices) basis in the first full year after closing. This would make the Sun acquisition more profitable in per share contribution in the first year than we had planned for the acquisitions of BEA, PeopleSoft and Siebel combined.” The deal will be through once the shareholders of Sun Microsystems give their assent.
