Charles Anthony, son of the LTTE top man Prabhakaran, was injured in the battle fighting with the Sri Lankan army.

The military spokesman Udaya Nanayakkara said that Charles Anthony was wounded near Pudukkudiyiruppu where the LTTE are centered.

He stated that, “We have confirmation that Prabhakaran’s son Charles Anthony was wounded

Prabhakaran
last week in a confrontation with ground troops. It appears he is being treated in a makeshift hospital inside the safety zone we have demarcated for civilians. We do not know how badly he is injured.”

It is also believed that Charles was injured in the shoulder and forearm. Though the injury is not life threatening, he is being treated at the LTTE medical unit in Valainjarmadam, south of Pudukkudiyiruppu.

This incident occurred when he was fighting with the 58th Division of the Sri Lankan army. Charles was leading a deputation of 600 cadres.

It is worth noting here that Prabhakaran named his son Charles Anthony after his close friend Seelan. Seelan died in 1983 after a confrontation with the army.
