Keeping
in mind the Sinhalese and Tamil New
year’s day falling on April
13 and 14 respectively, the Rajapaksa
government has declared a 48-hour
ceasefire in the NFZ. The LTTE supremo
Prabhakaran has agreed to the voice
of concern from various countries
to help evacuate the trapped Tamil
civilians in the zone. This could
help move more than 50,000 people
to safe destinations, it is believed.
