The Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse stated that Prabhakaran will be captured alive or dead soon.

In a website he stated that Prabhakaran is using innocent civilians as human shield and failed to use the 48-hour ceasefire to surrender.

Rajapakse said that “The army will capture Prabhakaran alive or see the end of him very soon. Although the LTTE leader was given the last

opportunity but he failed to make use of the opportunity. Now we have left only to deal with him militarily.”

Exuding confidence in his army, he stated that the Sri Lankan army will end the LTTE activities soon. He further added that the tigers now have to die either by consuming cyanide or by jumping into the sea.

Meanwhile, while addressing representatives of female organisations of the western province at his residence, Rajapakse was vehement on the LTTE supporters, “politicians who had acted as relatives of Prabhakaran, by betraying the country will also have to commit political suicide.”
