The National Security Adviser, M K Narayanan and Foreign Secretary, Shiv Shankar Menon attended to a four-member Sri Lankan Tamil MPs team asking for India’s interference to stop the war in Sri Lanka and help civilians leave the war zone. They will also call on External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, it is believed.

commodities have skyrocketed with a kilo rice selling at Rs.200, a coconut at Rs 250 and 1 kg of chilli at Rs. 5000. People live in fear as to what will happen the next minute. Everyday hundreds are being killed and thousands injured. With medical supplies exhausted, amputations are done without anesthetics it is stated.

With no end to the war, more causality is expected in the near future.
