The suspense about who the Samajwadi Party would field in Lucknow has become clear with the party general secretary Amar Singh having managed to convince, the heartthrob of yesteryear, Bollywood star, Nafisa Ali.

Nafisa Ali is not new to the political arena. She had contested the 2004 Lok Sabha elections from South Kolkata, but lost to Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Bannerjee.

Now Amar Singh has offered her an SP ticket. Speaking to the media, Mr. Singh stated, “Nafisa Ali is a personal friend and when I asked her whether she would come to Lucknow as SP's candidate or would like to represent Congress, a party which has no political base in UP, she said that she has full faith in SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's secular ideologies and is ready to contest elections from Lucknow as SP candidate.”

She was all praises for Amar Singh and Mulayam Singh Yadav. She said that both have been fighting communalism and she is honored to be part of their party.

The former Miss India also said that she respects the Congress Party but of late is annoyed with the ‘yesmanship’ culture in the party.
