Corporal punishment killed Shanoo?

Shanoo Khan, a student of the MCD School in Delhi, died on April 17th due to the alleged corporal punishment inflicted upon her. According to the initial reports, Shanoo was made to stand in the hot sun for about hours and the teacher had also placed two bricks on her shoulders.

However, the teacher, Manju, who inflicted the corporal punishment, is yet to be arrested. According to the Delhi police, Shanoo was epileptic and delay in

her treatment could have been a cause for her death. The police are awaiting the post mortem report, based on which Manju could be arrested if proved that the corporal punishment was the cause of Shanoo’s death. The police added that a case of negligence has been filed and after the post mortem report they could change it to culpable homicide.
