Help sought from Dhoni against Maoists
  August 31, 2010 12.59 PM

The Jharkhand Police have sought the help of Team India Cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in a campaign against Maoist rebels.

Jharkhand Director General of Police (DGP) Neyaz Ahmad met Dhoni at his home in Harmu housing colony on Monday. When asked about the meeting, the Jharkhand DGP said the meeting was a courtesy call.

But sources said that Ahmed sought Dhoni's help in a campaign against Maoist rebels. The police want a video message from Dhoni appealing to the Maoists to shun violence and join the mainstream of society.

The state police also want Dhoni to appeal to the people not to support the left wing extremists and not join their rank and file. But will Dhoni give his consent to the state police's request as he is on the hit list of the Maoist rebels is a question that needs an answer. It may be remembered that Dhoni has been provided Y-category security cover.
