Liquor is an important part of Keralites Onam menu. This was proved on Onam celebrations even as Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) was sold at a staggering Rs 85.7 crore through the outlets of Kerala State Beverages Corporation on the Pooradam, Uthradam and Thiruvonam days.
These Onam sales were about 11 percent higher than the sale during last year. The Karunagapally outlet had recorded a slight increase in the sales on the Thiruvonam and Pooradam days compared to the Chalakuddy outlet. While rum was sold 56 percent of the total IMFL sold out through Bevco outlets, brandy sales 39 percent, vodka four percent and whiskey one percent.
