City police commissioner T Rajendran
said on Monday that out of the 400 complaints related to domestic
disputes received by the city police this year, as many as 80% were
solved with the help of counsellors. "Family problems, marital issues, problems between lovers among others are being faced by the police. There are counsellors at four of the all-women police stations in the city. We are now planning to have them in all the 27 all-women police stations. Social welfare department’s is also sought. But if a husband-and-wife quarrel ends up in the wife being beaten up, we will take strong legal action against the husband," Rajendran said. |
