  August 23, 2010 11.30 AM
Two girls Srisathi (13) and Maskhan (9), residents of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, are working hard to garner money to buy a gift for their elder brother Anuj. The two girls are on a mission to save their brother’s life and say that is the best gift they need to give him. Anuj is suffering from a rare disease - Aplastic Anemia. This is a disorder which drives the patient to a life-threatening situation as the bone marrow does not produce adequate cells to replenish the blood cells.

The doctors have advised a bone transplant surgery for Anuj and it is estimated to cost 20 lakhs. The sisters, to collect the money, began polishing the shoes in their neighborhood after school. They also displayed a board asking for people to help their brother. Several NGOs, individuals and a stage drama troupe are working hard with Srisathi and Maskhan to save Anij.
