Sisters tie rakhi on the wrists of their brothers and re-inforce the sibling bond on the festival of Raksha Bandhan in Chennai. On the eve of this festival, many women in the city were busy buying rakhis and gifts, some even making special items at home.

"Tying the rakhi and being with my family is a sentimental feeling”, says Radha, a resident of Mylapore. Raksha bandhan is a north Indian festival celebrated throughout the country where sisters tie a rakhi around the wrist of their brothers.
