There is a rift going on between DMK and PMK over the issue of the state government conducting its own caste wise census instead of waiting for the Centre to include caste as a parameter in its ongoing nationwide census operation. PMK leader has aid that the state should go ahead with its own caste wise enumeration the DMK chief has rejected the demand on Wednesday and came up with arguments in favor of a state-level initiative. The CM said, "I don't have to agree for whatever Ramadoss says, the CM said. The DMK had already accepted caste-based census. We don’t need our own caste census when there are efforts at a national level to include caste in the census process as it will clash with the Union government's exercise". To this Ramadoss replied there is a duty cast on the TN government to abide by the Supreme Court's order in July seeking relevant data to justify its 69% total reservation”. |
