Close on the heels of DMDK founder and Actor Vijayakanth’s statement that he will lead the alliance in 2011 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu the Viduthalai Chiruthai Katchi leader Thol. Tirumavalavan has said that power sharing would be the next tangible step in letting Dalits taste political power even as he urged party office bearers to gear up and work hard towards realizing this goal.

Tirumavalavan while addressing a meeting of the regional district executive committees in Chennai on Sunday night said the party’s, ‘Vision 2011’ did not translate into capturing power next year, but to make a significant jump towards the goal.

Though he said that the party leadership will not make any wrong moves in the coming Assembly elections, he did not rule out an alliance in future. Turumavalavan added that “To achieve the long-term goal of Dalit liberation through the attainment of political power, the party will lead an alternative alliance in the State in 2016.

Surprisingly Tirumavalavan’s party VCK which is an ally of the ruling DMK government has attacked it saying DMK was giving second-class treatment to Dalits and allowing the police to foist false cases against them. He claimed that in the last six months 12 lakh members from 44 districts have joined the party. .
