Traveller will have to shell out extra bucks
to travel locally on air. All major airlines
have pulled back their low base fare from
today. Major carriers like Air India, Kingfisher
Airlines, Jet Airways have taken a decision
to stop their low fare advance purchase (APEX)
scheme. There will be no change in the regular
fare, stated spokespersons of these airlines.
The lowest fare of Rs.89 by Air India will
now be selling at Rs 489 plus tax and fuel
surcharge. A spokesperson of Jet Airways said
that, “airlines adjust fares on a regular
basis depending on the market conditions.
Recently, the fares have been adjusted on
certain sectors and fare buckets. The effected
changes are a day-to-day practice in the revenue
management of the airline.”
Kingfisher airlines also
claimed that they would here after concentrate
on high fare buckets rather than low fare
buckets. They would pay more attention to
earned revenue rather than seat factor.
The reason for this decision
is keeping in mind the forthcoming summer
holidays and low purchase does not arouse
demand it is felt. |
