The number of Russian billionaires is sliced
by 50% following the global recession. The
assets of top 10 billionaires are shaved by
two-thirds in the last year. From around 101
billionaires in Russia the list is now down
to 49, states Finans’ a financial weekly.
In order to get into the billionaires list,
the criterion was USD 15 billion last year,
but now the norms are just USD 4.5 billion,
quoted the finance weekly. The
wealthiest Russian, Mikhail Prokhorov, President
of Onexim Group is considered super rich
in Russia. The once topper, Deripaska, son-in-law
of Valentin Yumashev, chief of staff of
ex-president Boris Yeltsin slipped to the
eighth position with USD 4.9 billion, losing
USD 40 billion in 2007.
The second place is taken by former governor
of Chukotka, Roman Abramovich, owner of
Chelsea Football Club with USD 13.9 billion,
followed by Vladimir Lisin of Novoliptesk
steel plant with USD 7.70 billion.
