BCCI
has confirmed that they have decided
to extend the contract of Indian Coach
Gary Kirsten.
The former South African opener was
appointed as Indian coach during March
2008 for a two year contract. Since
his contract ends by next month BCCI
has decided to extend it.
It is to be noted that it is under
Kirsten where India has gained the
No.1 spot in ICC cricket rankings
and India has won 6 of its last 7
bi-lateral series.
BCCI president Shashank Manohard has
announced that they will renew his
contract however he didn’t mention
for how long the renewal period would
be.
Since the ODI World Cup is just a
year away Kirsten might be asked to
work at least till the World Cup.
Rumors started spreading that Kirsten
might coach South Africa after his
stint with India. But he clarified
that he doesn’t get any offer
from his home country.
