Followed
by the sudden rise of student Visa
applications from India, Britain has
stopped accepting student visa applications
from February 1, 2010. The Indian
Government stated that it will take
steps to help students trying to seek
admissions in the UK universities.
Apart from India, Nepal and Bangladesh
also have come under the scanner.
Meanwhile, Britain has warned strict
action on those who indulge in illegal
practices to get their student visas.
Commenting on this situation, Minister
of State for External Affairs Preneet
Kaur said, “I would want to
tell the Indian students that they
(UK) have said that it will take some
time (to resolve the matter) as a
lot of applications have been sent.
So, be slightly patient. We will try
to see that the students have some
chance to take forward their visa
applications.”
Between October and December 2008,
1,800 student visa applications were
received in Delhi, Chandigarh and
Jalandhar, whereas, in the months
of 2009 it increased to 13,500 applicants.
Based on this statistics, the British
officials feared that there are plans
to push these students into spurious
colleges in the UK.
