A 9-year-old girl has given birth by Caesarean section to a boy weighing six pounds in a northeast China hospital.

The young girl has become one of the world's youngest mothers after she gave birth to a healthy child.

The girl was brought to the Changchun hospital, in the Jilin province, when she was more than eight months pregnant, report said.

While the circumstances surrounding the girl's pregnancy were unknown, and it has been reported that both mother and baby were doing fine.

Lina Medina of Peru was the World's youngest reported mother who gave birth to a 6lb son by Caesarean section in 1939 aged five.
