India should play SA on turning tracks: Kapil

February 01, 2010 04:56 PM

The former Indian captain Kapil Dev has said that India should focus on playing in a spin friendly track for the upcoming Test Series against South Africa.

"Our strength is spin bowling and the wickets for the upcoming two Tests have to be prepared accordingly. Also, we don't have a quality pacer other than Zaheer Khan right now who can make an impact"—he said.

The first test will be played at Nagpur on February 5 and the second match at Kolkata on February 14.

Kapil also said that there is no point in preparing a track which is helpful for fast bowlers since South Africans have better seaming attack than India.

"There is no point in having a pitch, which assists fast bowlers more than the spinners since South Africa has a much better pace attack in comparison to the hosts"—he said.

Kapil also said that it is very tough for pace bowlers to play consistently in all three formats of the game.
