February 05, 2010 02:21 PM

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), cricket’s historical institution and the owner of Lord’s is willing to buy a new IPL team for the next season.

IPL has earlier announced that it will add two more IPL teams for the next season. Top sources say that MCC is willing to buy an IPL team during the auction for Franchises.

Lord’s received a huge reception when it hosted an exhibition match between Rajasthan Royals and Middlesex.

Sources also said that Lords may host some pre-season matches if they become an IPL franchise.

The reporters tried to contact the media officer Abi Carter, but he refused to comment on this issue.

"MCC does not comment on speculation and will not be commenting on this issue at the present time"—he said.
