The
Anna centenary library, which is underway
at the cost of Rs 170 crore, received
some of the finest collections of
1000 books from the Chief Minister’s
personal library.
The Madras University Vice-Chancellor
G Thiruvasagam has been collecting
books for the new library for the
past few weeks and it is on this mission
that he visited the Chief Minister
for his contribution. Deputy Chief
Minister MK Stalin offered another
350 books from his personal collection.
The Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University
has also donated medical books and
journals worth Rs 5 crore said the
VC. The medical books are very expensive
and this donation will help poor students,
said Thiruvasagam.
Around 1000 books were presented by
the School Education Minister Thangam
Thennarasu.
The eight-storeyed library will be
thrown open to the public in June,
it is expected and it will accommodate
more than 12 lakh books.
