Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar said she was happy that Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister and DMK MP M K Azhagiri has expressed his desire to meet her on the issue of allowing him to speak in Tamil in Parliament.

Meira Kumar said she would be too happy to meet Azhagiri to sort out the issue.

''Earlier also he had sought appointment and I gave it. But he could not meet me. I am happy that he had expressed his consent to meet me next week. I am waiting for it. After the talks, I will take necessary steps to sort out the issue,'' Lok Sabha Speaker said.

Opposition parties in Tamil Nadu made a hue and cry over Azhagiri not allowed to speak in Tamil in Parliament.

Azhagiri had said that he would meet the Lok Sabha Speaker to sort out the issue.
