Pakistan
captain Mohammad Yousuf has said that
he wants to lead Pakistan at least
till 2011.
After losing all the games in Australia,
he said his team has done a fair job.
"I was captain for just two-and-half
months on two of the toughest tours
in the cricket world and I think my
young team did pretty well. It is
only fair that I should be given a
longer run to implement my plans and
try to build up this team"—he
said.
He also criticized the board’s
decision to sack players and selectors
after every poor series. Yousuf also
urged for some support from people
and media.
"This constant changing and chopping
of the team management and captain
every time we lose a series is not
good for Pakistan cricket. People
and the media must understand that
they need to back us. Only then can
this team develop into world beaters"—he
said.
"Allow this team to prove its
worth in two or three series. Don't
write us off and push for changes
just because we lost in Australia.
How many teams have done well in Australia
in recent years?"—he added.
