The
United States published an alert for
Americans travelling to India, saying
Washington continues receiving information
about terrorist groups planning attacks
against India.
The U.S. State Department reported
in its latest terror alert, that,
“The Department of State alerts
U.S. citizens to ongoing security
concerns in India. The U.S. government
continues to receive information that
terrorist groups may be planning attacks
in India.”
“Terrorists and their sympathizers
have demonstrated their willingness
and capability to attack targets where
Americans or Westerners are known
to congregate or visit,” report
said.
In November 2008, six Americans were
among 166 people who were killed by
10 gunmen who targeted hotels, a train
station and other locations in the
Indian commercial capital of Mumbai.
“U.S. citizens are advised to
monitor local news reports and consider
the level of security present when
visiting public places, including
religious sites, or choosing hotels,
restaurants, entertainment and recreation
venues,” report added.
