The
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
has prepared a blueprint for the revival
of cash-strapped Air-India. He has
also set a 30-day deadline to prepare
a business plan.
In the last financial year, Air India
had incurred a loss of Rs 4,000 crores.
Manmohan Singh has appointed a three-member
panel headed by a Cabinet Secretary,
who is said to monitor the company’s
turnaround.
The other two members include the
Civil Aviation Secretary and Finance
Secretary. The revival plan is said
to include the restructuring, rationalization
of man power, cost cutting strategies
and even lay-offs.
Air-India is likely to request Rs
10, 000 crores as a bailout package.
It is to be noted that the Air-India’s
employees will get their June month
salaries only on July 3.
