Following
the announcement of the petrol and
diesel price hike of Rs 4 per liter
and Rs 2 per liter, respectively,
on Wednesday, the members of the opposition
today staged a protest over the issue.
The protesting group demanded withdrawal
of the price hike stating that it
was announced without the approval
of the Cabinet, just a day before
budget session.
However, the Petroleum Minister Murli
Deora has stated that there will be
a price slash in petrol and diesel
price once the global crude rates
fall.
The BJP, Left and even DMK a member
of the UPA are insisting on roll back
of petrol and diesel price hike.
DMK MP TR Baalu said, “I strongly
condemn the decision... It is not
a unitary Congress government; it
is of the Congress, of the DMK, of
the Trinamool.”
Following this the Trinamool Congress
MP Sudip Bandyopadhya stated, “We
are not actually happy with the hike."
The Petroleum Minister said that the
hike was minimal when compared to
the requirements.
