Ashar Mendon, an 18-year-old student who had got admission to the Bond University in New South Wales (Australia) committed suicide after his mother vetoed against pursuing higher studies in Australia.

The mother, fearing the recent racial attacks, stopped her son from pursuing his higher studies in Australia. Following this, Ashar hung himself in his house at Colaba on Monday. Ashar was called to take up a course in undergraduate Information Technology.
