Sorry says Burger King to Hindus

Burger King Corporation (BKC), an internationally renowned fast food chain of restaurants, has issued an apology statement for offending the sentiments of the Hindus.

The Burger King Chain in Spain was running a print advertisement in its stores in which an image of Goddess Lakshmi sitting on top of a meat sandwich with a tag line, ‘A snack that’s sacred,” in Spanish was being played.

The Hindu American Foundation (HAF) asked the BKC to remove the advertisement as it is offensive.

In reply an apology statement that was issued by Denise T Wilson spokesman for Burger King, “We are apologizing because it wasn't our intent to offend anyone. Burger King Corporation (BKC) values and respects all of its guests as well as the communities we serve. This in-store advertisement was running to support only local promotion for three restaurants in Spain and was not intended to offend anyone.”

The HAF has welcomed the immediate step taken by BKC.
