In what could be called neck-to-neck finals between Roger Federer and Andy Roddicks on Sunday, the Swiss finally held the trophy after creating history by breaking Pete Sampras’ record of 14 Grand Slam titles. With this Federer now has 15 Grand Slams to his credit.
Federer took the match away from Roddick 5-7,7-6,7-6,3-6,16-14. This is the sixth Grand Slam title that he has won so far.

In an on court interview, Federer said, “Andy I want to say you’re going to come back and win one, I’m sure. Today (Sunday) I was on the lucky side. It feels funny to have the trophy back. It feels great. It was a crazy match, my head’s still spinning. It’s an unbelievable moment in my career.”

Federer won the French Open last month. Roddick had won only one title so far, the US Open in 2003.
