1.5 lakh Indians jobless in UAE

The recession is forcing more and more Indian workers back to their motherland. And this time around it’s from the United Arab Emirates.

Around 1.5 lakh Indian workers were sent back from the UAE as there is a delay in the execution of projects due to economic meltdown, stated Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi in the Lok Sabha.

Many workers are of the hope to return to the country after things settle down.

The minister stated that the Indian embassies in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar have been updated about the job loss, some Indians have moved to Malaysia seeking greener pastures.
