First
a bridge collapse at the Delhi Metro
rail construction site and now three
cranes collapsed at the same accident
site while clearing the debris. The
accident on Sunday killed 6 workers
and 4 workers were injured in the
Monday morning accident.
The cranes buckled under weight while
trying to lift the orange girders.
It fell on the building and the slum

vertical position resulting in the
arms of the crane being mauled and
flattened.
The four injured workers were admitted
at the All India Institute of Medical
Sciences (AIIMS) Trauma Center.
The clearing operations have come
to a stand still following the recent
accident. It was earlier anticipated
that the site would be cleared by
1600 hrs. Now there is no idea when
the debris would be cleared and normal
traffic restored.
Meanwhile, the resignation of E Sreedharan

by the Delhi Chief Minister Sheila

Speaking to reporters, the Chief Minister
stated, “The Metro needs him.
