After
the metro bridge collapse in the capital,
the financial capital, Mumbai today
experienced a metro rail pillar collapse.
The steel scaffolding collapsed in
the northwest suburb of Sakineka on
Monday night. No one was injured in
the accident.
KP Maheshwari, Director of Mumbai
Metro One said, “It was a temporary
scaffolding, which we had put up during
the construction, and it fell due
to the strong winds. We removed the
debris in two to three hours. Work
has resumed at the site.”
The heavy winds that are whipping
the city may be the reason it is said.
An inquiry into the collapse will
be conducted and the report will be
submitted soon, stated the Director
of Mumbai Metro One.
