Historic win for Sri Lanka

July 15 2009 12:35 AM

Sri Lanka has won the first home series against Pakistan after beating the visitors in the second test yesterday.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat Pakistan was crushed in the first innings after being bowled out for 90. Sri Lanka replied with a 240 runs with the lead of 150.

Pakistan responded very strongly when the scoreboard shows 285 for 1 in their second innings with the lead of 135.

But once again the batting order collapses for the second time in the game by ending the score at 320 and leaving an easy target of just 171 with lots of time being left in the game.

Sri Lanka completed a smooth chase by losing only three wickets and winning the game by 7 wickets.

The reason for Pakistanis failure is losing their last nine wickets for 35 runs, their third successive collapse in the series that highlighted their reputation as one of the most unpredictable sides in modern cricket.

Man of the Match goes to Fawad Alam (Pakistan) and KMDN Kulasekara (Sri Lanka).

Sri Lanka now leads the three match series 2-0. The third and final Test will start at the Sinhalese sports club on July 20.
