The
Central Organizing Committee has recommended
India to host 8 of 14 world cup matches
that were scheduled to take place
in Pakistan.
The COC had a meeting with ICC yesterday
in Mumbai to discuss about the new
venues for the matches scheduled in
Pakistan.
However Pakistan has skipped this
meeting citing to various reasons.
The COC has recommended that India
will host 8 matches and Sri Lanka
will host 4 matches and Bangladesh
will host 2 matches that were scheduled
to take place in Pakistani soil. India
will now host 29
matches, Sri Lanka 12 and Bangladesh
8.
The COC has sent this to the ICC and
is waiting for the final approval.
It was also decided that Mumbai will
be the secretariat of the tournament
and Ratnakar Shetty, Board of Control
for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief
administrative officer, was appointed
the tournament director.
Shetty said, "We had a good,
productive meeting. There is much
hard work to be done but we are confident
we are now well on the way, with operational
plans in place to become effective
from the start of August. Moving forward,
the COC will meet on a regular basis
with everyone committed to a successful
event, something we are confident
we can achieve."
