South on high alert

All South Indian states have been put under high alert after a warning from the Intelligence Bureau.

According to Hyderabad Police Commissioner B Prasada Rao, three terrorists are planning to attack soft spots in south India, especially Hyderabad.

It may be mentioned here that the two terrorist attacks that occurred during the year 2007 in Hyderabad -one at the Mecca Masjid and another twin blast in August - killed 50 people.

All prime locations in Andhra Pradesh including IT companies, railway stations, theaters, defense areas are under scanner. Visakhapatnam and Tirupati are also on high alert.

Police have arrested 13 people who were traveling in the Hyderabad-New Delhi Andhra Pradesh Express on grounds of suspicion.

Hotels and lodges are being checked for any suspicious activities.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka Home Minister V S Acharya confirmed that terrorists have entered south India. In a statement he said, “Information has come that three armored men have come to create some problem. Police are searching for them but could not find them so far. We have informed the neighboring states to be watchful.”
