Illegal railway line to be built by Pakistan, Indian security threatened

An illegal railway station is to be constructed by Pakistan in the no man’s land very close to the zero line and near the Indian border at Barmer. A Chinese company has been awarded the contract for the project.

The Munabao-Khokhrapar railway track that was built in the year 2006 was an act of friendship between India and Pakistan, but it is against the international laws. The make-shift railway station will now become a permanent structure if this project goes ahead. This is considered a big security threat to India, as arms and ammunitions can be transported up to the zero line in case any conflict arises between the two countries.

Moreover, the track is placed at a highly elevated place and this could help Pakistan to monitor the activities across the border.

Chinese engineers had undertaken a survey of this area two weeks ago.

Commenting on this issue, the Minister of State for Defense MM Pallam Raju said, “There is no shortfall in preparedness from our side in this regard. Chinese influence is not just in Pakistan, but they are trying to develop a port in Sri Lanka and in Myanmar as well. And we are well aware of all these developments. And we are taking steps that this Chinese influence does not pose a threat to our nations.”
