June 5th is being celebrated as the World Environment Day and Nokia has a message on this important day. Next time you want to dump your old mobile phone, drop it at the bins placed outside the main dealers’ shops. These phones are recycled in an eco friendly manner.

The director of corporate affairs Nokia India, Ambrish Bakaya said that Nokia has joined hands with two NGOs in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to plant 22,000 trees. There are plans to extend the program to 15 other cities. The two NGO’s Ahimsa in Kancheepuram will plant 12,000 trees and Rotary Midtown in Bangalore will plant around 10,000 trees.

Bakaya added that any initiative to improve e-waste management will be welcomed by the organization.
