Sachin’s social responsibility
June 04 2009 09:40 AM

Sachin Tendulkar will be sponsoring the education of 200 children through a non governmental organization Apnalaya.

He said that he is following his father’s footsteps who sponsored the education of a newspaper boy even during the days ‘where every penny mattered,’ said the superstar of cricket at a press conference.

Remembering his father, he said, “Whoever turned up at our house, be it the watchman or the postman, would not be allowed to leave without having a cup of tea, which my father served. These incidents taught me all about caring for others. I have learnt from my father and I'm proud of it.”

Speaking at the program organized by another NGO, GiveIndia, he said that he would double his contribution by sponsoring the education of 200 children.
